THE CHALLENGE TO SOLVE
Block aims to be the go-to brand for homeowners planning major renovations, from dream kitchens to luxury bathrooms and beyond. We understand the power of social media in making this vision a reality. As the content creator for Block, you will develop a social media strategy that’s as innovative and forward-thinking as our renovation platform.
By delivering original content that delights, educates and engages—showcasing your range of creativity—you will build a community around the excitement of creating spaces people love. This community will see Block not just as a service provider, but as a source of inspiration and guidance for anyone embarking on the journey of transforming their home.
THE ROLE
As a member of the Marketing team, you will create social media content (primarily Instagram Reels & TikTok style videos) that helps inspire and educate homeowners on the topic of home renovations. We want you to take Block’s social media to the next level with trend-setting original content and engage a growing audience.
This is an hourly contract position, with the potential to discuss a full-time role in the future. We anticipate the role requiring 15-20 hours per week during this initial period.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- 10x our social presence and engagement across Instagram/Facebook & TikTok. Potential to add other social channels (e.g. YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn) as the role evolves.
- Create 3-5 videos a week to be posted to Instagram/Facebook & TikTok
- Film, edit, and star in social media-optimized videos designed to build Block as the go-to brand for home renovations
- Ideate and test dozens of different video topics and formats, finding content that resonates with our ideal homeowner profile, who tend to be Millennials+
- Build relationships with relevant influencers in the space to either collaborate with or partner on content
- Respond to comments and messages across Instagram/Facebook & TikTok in a timely and engaging manner
THE TEAM
You would sit on the Marketing team and work closely with our Head of Brand, Content and Creative.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of creating video content (including shooting, editing, and all associated production)
- You have a track record of successfully growing social presence rapidly for brands or your own accounts with engaging content (please share these handles as part of your application)
- You have a pulse on pop culture, social trends, and online communities
- Comfortable on camera yourself and interviewing others
- You are highly creative and engaging. You have the ability to format videos in a way that gets and keeps people watching and makes them want to engage/share
- You are comfortable pulling and delivering reporting and analysis to help us understand how your content is working and what the areas of opportunity are
- NYC-based, willing to travel to NJ, MA and CA as needed to capture content at job sites and completed projects
- Not required, but bonus points if you have experience in construction and/or interior design
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

We practice a market-based and performance-driven compensation philosophy which compensates employees fairly and competitively, and rewards strong performance.
This is a contract role and the hourly rate will be from $30.00-35.00. We anticipate the role requiring 15-20 hours per week during this trial period. This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated hourly rate. The actual hourly rate will depend on numerous factors such as: experience, knowledge and skills, qualifications, location, and other job-related factors.
