POSITION SUMMARY:
Do you love to read, write, analyze, and research? If so, come join one of America’s fastest growing insurance companies. At National Life Group (“NLG”), we are looking for talented individuals who would like to explore a potential career in Compliance. Compliance is one of the key support beams to an organization’s infrastructure and the team’s vision and mission focuses on partnerships and collaborations through an ethical risk-based approach. This position will provide the candidate with a broad understanding and firsthand exposure of all aspects of compliance matters, provide an opportunity to collaborate with the legal department, and offer an understanding of the financial services industry, with a specific focus on life insurance and annuity products.
The Life & Annuity Compliance Intern may work with each of the four teams and tailor the experience to align with the candidate’s interests, objectives, and individual qualifications:
- Advertising Guidance: This team is responsible for reviewing all advertising, & sales materials, and social media posts created by the company and for a certain subset of individuals who sell our products. This includes training pieces, marketing pieces and websites.
- Antifraud & Special Investigation Unit (“SIU”): This team helps establish fraud controls within the organization to help protect our customers, our agents, and NLG. This team also investigates fraud referrals, monitors the anti-money laundering program, and monitors and maintains the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanction lists.
- Regulatory Guidance: This team keeps on eye on the legislative horizon – what changes to laws may impact NLG and how we do business. This team also handles market conduct exams, privacy, providing reports to regulators, and reviewing business processes for compliance with established regulations.
- Sales Practice Guidance: This team is responsible for investigating and responding to all formal complaints, investigating non-fraud agent matters, overseeing sales practice monitoring, and assisting in interpreting regulations and other general compliance related activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this role, you will be an integral part of our team and be incorporated into one of the functional teams for day-to-day operations. As indicated, the specific responsibilities for this position will be tailored to the candidate; however, you can expect to provide overall assistance and support to the daily responsibilities of L&A Compliance, including the Chief Compliance Officer.
