Renton Police Department is continually seeking men and women to help continue a tradition of giving the City of Renton the best possible law enforcement service.
Applicants must demonstrate strong values in their daily life and understand the importance of the Renton Police Department’s core values: Integrity, Service, Valor, and Professionalism.
The first step to becoming a Renton police officer is the written and physical fitness exam conducted by Public Safety Testing (PST) https://www.publicsafetytesting.com/. Select RPD on PST, complete a personal history statement (PHS) and then schedule your exams. After successfully passing the written and physical exams, apply at the City of Renton website for entry level police officer https://rentonwa.gov/city_hall/police/administrative_services/police_careers.
Individuals with the highest test scores are invited to an interview panel. Passing the interview panel starts a comprehensive background investigation followed by an interview with the Chief of Police.
New hires are sent to the basic law enforcement academy in Burien, Washington. This is followed by field training with experienced Renton police officers. Upon successful completion, patrol work begins.
This process does last longer than most private sector job interviews, but we are looking for great decision makers with a passion for service.
Come join the Renton Police in a great work environment, exciting career, competitive salary/benefits, commitment to training/education and more.
Help us be the change…bring your life experiences to help us be the guardians of our community, initiate new ideas, promote DEI, and build trust with community members.
Test and Apply today! We are hiring on a continuous basis.
