About the Program
Hourglass Community Crisis Center is a program designed to provide 24/7 support to individuals who suffer from mental illness. This Crisis Center will be available 24/7 to accept individuals referred by law enforcement, community providers and individuals themselves for mental health crisis assessment, stabilization, and active linkages to community providers for same-day or next-day follow-up support services.
About the Position
We have an opening for a Crisis Support Specialist. This position requires that applicants have the ability to work as a member of a direct care team serving adults with severe and persistent mental illness; to support the development of life skills and therapeutic interventions; perform housekeeping and meal preparation; medication administration; and keep accurate clinical documentation. In addition, you will receive crisis de-escalation training, which requires performing various physical, hands-on maneuvers and techniques. If you have experience working as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), Residential Assistant (RA), Residential Counselor, Skills Trainer, or Caregiving for a client suffering with mental illness (e.g. memory care unit at an Assisted Living Facility), then this position might be a good fit for you.
Work Schedule: 4 days (30 hours a week) 8 hour shifts
MUST have personal experience with mental illness and the ability to effectively manage own symptoms; MUST be both certified and registered as a Peer Support Specialist through the Oregon Health Authority
MEET the State of Oregon QMHA credentials criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science: Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or Human Development;
- OR minimum 6,000 hours verifiable mental health experience working with Severe Persistent Mental Illness population in a supervised social service setting;
- OR equivalent combination of behavioral science education in addition to satisfactory supplemental mental health experience and training
Successful applicants MUST also have a valid Oregon driver’s license, maintain a safe driving record, and the ability to pass a DHS criminal background check.
Pay & Benefits
Starting at $17.50 per hour/DOE and QMHA credentials. ColumbiaCare offers a comprehensive benefits package for part-time employees. Medical/Dental/Vision coverage for employees working 30 hours a week. All Part-Time/On-Call hourly employees receive time and a half when working a holiday and are eligible to receive up to 5 days of sick time and up to 12 days of vacation per year (accruals earned are based on hours worked).
