We are looking for someone to help us move our interpretive programming forward, as well as provide some volunteer coordination services. The Interpretive/Volunteer Coordinator (IVC), working under the Executive Director, will work in partnership and coordination with the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department Interpretive Ranger to develop and manage interpretive programming for volunteers and interpretive guides based on the Vista House Interpretive Plan. This includes recruitment and training of Vista House volunteers – desk staff and interpretive guides – ensuring visitors and special tour groups are welcomed with adequate interpretive staffing. The IVC will work primarily at the Vista House as an interpretive guide and volunteer supervisor when the Vista House is open. The IVC arranges and manages the annual volunteer appreciation dinner, which normally takes place in October. The IVC may also hire, train and supervise assistants (possibly interns) as needed during the busy season. The busy season runs from late spring through summer and will require weekend work. Because this is a new position, duties and responsibilities may be adjusted to meet the goals outlined above.
