A summer internship at Geffen Mesher is designed to give you a head start in your career as a public accountant. Not only will you gain technical experience, but you will be provided with the mentoring and coaching critical to building a successful career path.
Not sure which direction to take yet? At Geffen Mesher that’s not a problem. During our internship you will be exposed to both tax and audit work. After 2 weeks of training and one week of job shadowing, you will have the opportunity to work on preparation of individual, corporate and partnership returns, as well as audit, review and compilation engagements. Throughout the program you will participate in additional staff training and be provided with coaching and mentoring in the areas of networking and professional development. We also like to through in a few fun activities in there too! It is summer in Portland, after all!
During the course of the internship, you will:
• Become familiar with our firm’s policies and procedures
• Understand the rules, regulations and code of conduct of the AICPA
• Obtain exposure to the various types of financial statement engagements
• Prepare financial statements and footnote disclosures
• Be exposed to the various research resources related to both tax and assurance
• Prepare corporate, individual, partnership and other tax returns
• Network and attend social activities

Accounting majors – complete junior level at start of internship and completed intermediate accounting sequence
Candidates are eligible for a Summer Internship if they are graduating and will be CPA Eligible between December 2021 and August 2023.
3.25 GPA or better
Interest in CPA as a career
Strong interest in local and mid-sized firms
Good working knowledge of office technology software and good written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrate the following through school, work and outside activities:

An ability to collaborate in a group setting
Integrity and strong work ethic
Energy & enthusiasm
You will be working 32 hrs/ week, M-Th.
