Build Kaldi Android Library for Miro mobile app (speech recognition project)
- This project is likely to take about 2 – 8 weeks of work total and would be done in collaboration with our R&D engineer. It involves on-device speech recognition on Android devices.
- Compile C++ source code of an open source speech recognizer (Kaldi) as a library to be used on the android platform. There is a resource here that can be used / referenced: https://jcsilva.github.io/2017/03/18/compile-kaldi-android/, and we use a specific version of Kaldi (i.e. Kaldi 5.4).
- Currently, we have some compiling scripts + demo test app for this project, but need to review the scripts and the app, then compile the code, test the demo app and fix any issue that is occurring.
- Deliver a working Kaldi Android Library + source codes + demo app
An existing iOS English model can be recompiled and adjusted for Android. Developers should be able to test compiled android platform libraries with
the same English models (from our own Kaldi for iOS source code).
You can find a similar demo app from here: https://github.com/alphacep/vosk-android-demo.
