We have openings for two part-time, 9-month research assistant positions in building an automated nanoscale electrode fabrication setup in the Physics and Engineering Physics Department at Morgan State University. The selected candidates will work 20 hours per week on building the setup, fabrication and validation of nanoscale electrodes, and reporting. The positions are available to start immediately.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
§ Assist in building an automated nanoscale electrode preparation setup that is half-built.
§ Grow gold nanowires electrochemically with our established method.
§ Use the automated setup for insulating nanowire electrodes.
§ Characterize the nanoscale electrodes with cyclic voltammetry measurements and with imaging.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
§ Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following:
– Machining (lathe, press drill, other machine shop tools)
– Arduino or other electronic circuitry for motor control
– Machine vision, machine learning, and/or tensor flow
– Cyclic voltammetry
§ Clear and concise oral and written communication skills
§ Attention to detail
The 9-month salary is $16,500. Initial 4.5-month term appointment is subject to renewal contingent on performance and funding. No health benefits are offered for these positions.
