Our Axeperts are the key to what makes Oregon Axe Awesome! Axeperts are essentially axe throwing coaches for our customers. Our Axeperts are a balance of keeping everyone safe and keeping everyone having a great time! Axe throwing experience is not necessary, we will teach you to be an axe-ellent axe thrower!
An average day for an Axepert:
Arrive for your shift and help the team prepare the venue for the day. This includes cleaning, changing out boards, making targets, and whatever else needs to be done. When your group of customers arrive for their 90-minutes of fun, you will take them to their Axe cube (caged area with 2 targets) to go over safety rules and demonstrate how to throw an axe correctly and safely. Then, you’ll instruct each member of the group as they begin axe throwing providing coaching and tips to help them be successful. You must have an eye for detail (again, we will teach you), be comfortable interacting and having fun with strangers, have an encouraging and positive temperament, and a can-do attitude. We don’t give up on anyone…we teach everyone how to throw an axe successfully no matter how much they might struggle. Once everyone gets the hang of it, you will take them through a series of fun and competitive games. A great Axepert is someone that cheers the loudest, instigates friendly competition, keeps score for the group, and continually offers advice to our customers to improve. You must have the art of reading the group to know when to interject a joke and when to sit quietly keeping score.
Between groups, it’s getting the venue ready for the next one and then you get to do the whole thing over again.
Our Axeperts do make tips both personally from their groups and shared tips from bar sales. Plus, there are other earning opportunities through bonuses and commissions.
