Preston Taylor Ministries (PTM) is a Christian-based non-profit organization that exists to provide safe and fun neighborhood programming for kids to learn and grow. Programs include after school tutoring, summer field trips, one-on-one mentoring, Bible studies, camps, and more. These programs for kids are supported by PTM staff, community members, parent volunteers, and generous donors that support the work of PTM. PTM empowers our kids to discover and live their God-inspired dreams, develop a love for learning, and build joy-filled friendships that glorify Christ Jesus.
Reporting to the Area Program Director that oversees middle and high school programming, the Youth Coordinator will be responsible for running an after-school PTM site for middle school age youth during programming hours. In addition, during non-programming hours, this role will assist with the coordination of enriching experiences throughout the year for PTM youth (Grades 6-12th) and overall youth programming needs. All employees at PTM should represent the organization well to children and their families, volunteers, supporters, and the community.
Roles and Responsibilities
Site Coordinator Responsibilities
- Ensure PTM standards are met, safety measures are followed, daily programming guidelines are followed, and always ensure the safety and well-being of children
- Interact with children on their individual levels of development and provide guidance and coaching when needed.
- Implement weekly lesson plans and schedules developed with the Area Program Director for Middle and High School that are effective and fit student needs, interests, and developmental level.
- Represent PTM well and encourage participation and involvement where applicable.
- Maintain the appearance of the classroom and outside areas in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Participate meaningfully and significantly in staff meetings.
Middle and High School Programming Responsibilities
- Help develop and facilitate high-quality instruction and programming in line with PTM’s mission, vision and values.
- Coordinate enriching learning opportunities and experiences for PTM youth including; planning the events, tracking participation, securing transportation, and attending enrichment experiences.
- Collect documentation at sites including attendance, program participation, and other measures of ‘student connectedness’ as directed by the PTM guidelines
- Interact with youth with the heart of a pastor and meet students on their individual levels of development providing guidance and coaching when needed.
- Help run weekly events including: Dinner and Devo, SEE, Youth Night at Calvin House, Next Steps, and Night Lights.
- Assist with food menu for the youth and coordinate with volunteers or help cook meals.
- Assist with other middle and high school programming as needed.
Job Requirements
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Two years related experience as a coordinator or supervisor in a childcare program preferred
- Bi-lingual is a plus!
- Have a valid driver’s license and capable of driving to multiple site locations
- Have proficient computer skills
- Behavior and classroom management skills
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Work Schedule
The Youth Coordinator is a part-time role generally working:
Approximately 25-30 hours per week.
This role will spend approximately 20 hours per week as a site coordinator and
5 –10 additional hours supporting and assisting with general activities of youth programming for middle and high school age students.
