The Grant Writer is a self-motivated project leader who is passionate about writing, program development, and research! This position collaborates and coordinates across all levels of the agency to translate complex ideas into written proposals for public and private funding that articulate the vision for innovative programs that serve children and families. The ideal candidate is a strong writer who is interested in impacting the lives of children and families on an organizational and systems level. The Grant Writer works as part of the Strategic Initiatives team, which is responsible for securing public and private funding, advancing policies that reflect the agency’s commitment to Unconditional Care, and analyzing and disseminating data related to program outcomes. - Produce written materials that describe innovative programs to support youth and families for a variety of audiences (e.g. foundations, county, state, and federal entities). Projects primarily include public procurement proposals, but also grants, op-eds, concept papers, etc.
- Project manage the development of proposal components, receive and integrate feedback from stakeholders, and participate in a collaborative process of final compilation for all projects.
- Conduct research in support of projects, including but not limited to reviewing best practice literature, various program modalities, relevant data, laws and regulations, etc.
- Collaboratively design and develop project budgets that are fiscally viable and technically accurate.
- Identify funding opportunities that align with Seneca’s strategic plan and funding priorities.
- Participate in, lead, and represent Seneca in collaborative meetings with agency staff at all levels, as well as external partners at other nonprofits or public agency staff, to plan for and execute projects.
- Engage in and contribute to required Strategic Initiatives team meetings, team building retreats, and team activities to identify and work toward departmental goals.
- Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required. Candidates with a Master’s degree in a relevant field or 1-3 years of direct practice or administrative experience in the field(s) of mental health, child welfare, education, or juvenile justice are preferred.
- Strong writing skills required; experience with academic and/or project-based writing preferred.
- Experience with and commitment to integrating DEI and an anti-oppressive lens to program design, writing, and the work environment.
- Experience with direct care, program development, grant writing, or program evaluation, preferably in a mental health, education or social services setting.
- Strong time and project management skills while working collaboratively on a team with enthusiasm for short-term project-based work and a learning-oriented mindset.
- Clearance of TB test, fingerprints and any other mandatory State/Federal licensing or certification requirements.
