Are you interested in learning about public lands? As a Digital Communication & Marketing Intern for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Southwest Region’s Data Lifecycle Team, you will contribute to the updating and modernization of our data savvy training program, and our digital outreach efforts.
We are looking to expand our training and outreach on 21st century techniques for data. You can help us by bringing your creative copywriting, marketing, and media skills to work with two subject matter data experts to create high-value, engaging content written in a conversational voice. We want your help collecting and creating high quality digital media, revamping our training materials, developing evergreen stories and social media content.

The Southwest Region of USFWS is based in Albuquerque, NM and encompasses Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma. We work with a variety of partners and other agencies, communities, tribal governments, conservation groups, business interests, landowners and concerned citizens to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, and their habitat. We have 47 National Wildlife Refuges, 8 National Fish Hatcheries, 1 Fish Health Center, 4 Fishery and Wildlife Conservation Offices, and 7 Ecological Services Field Offices that all contribute to conservation and recreational opportunities for the American public.
The intern will need to work independently with guidance and in small groups, while using digital conferencing platforms. Primary duties will be working with two data experts to take a complicated subject and distill the information into easy-to-understand graphics and copy that will help us modernize our data savvy training programs for our employees. Your skills will help update training materials bringing the Data Lifecycle team’s unique, playful voice to these materials. Your talents will also help us with creating updated video materials, producing webinars and social media content.
