Title: Archivist
Pay: $30/hour (negotiable). Paid monthly.
Time: June to November 2024. Project must be completed by November 2024. 10-20 hours per week. Flexible.
Reports to: Lynnwood-Alderwood Manor Heritage Association & Museum (LAMHA) and City of Lynnwood (COL)
Work locations: mainly remote and occasional meetings with LAMHA or COL staff in Lynnwood and/or by phone, email, zoom.
Summary
Historian Betty Lou Gaeng wrote 100’s of history articles about South Snohomish County and the Lynnwood area. They are in various forms: some published on the web, some in paper, some in digital media. Our project is to organize, catalog, digitize and on-line publish about 100 of her articles.
Essential Job Functions (Includes but is not limited to below):
- Format or re-format articles.
- Scanning/digitizing.
- Organize and catalog the articles into a logical list in archiving software.
- Create key words, search terms for articles.
- Work on the access interface for the articles with public.
- Research/secure copyrights and use permissions.
- Write a report to summarize and detail the work done.
Required/Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of archiving software such as “Past Perfect” and/or “Archive in a Box” is preferred.
- Knowledge of word processing such as Microsoft Word.
- Ability to prepare effective written reports/documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Required Physical Traits
- Visual acuity to read and review documents.
- Hearing and speaking ability to effectively exchange information.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment including personal computers with associated software.
Minimum Qualifications
Degree or pursuing degree in Library Science or similar.
Must have own computer.
