Job Title: Communication and Web Developer
Reports to: CMLC Executive Director
Hours: 25 hours per week with occasional evening and/or weekend work as needed
Compensation: $20 – 22 per hour commensurate on experience
Schedule: This position is at-will. Weekly staff meetings and two in- person shifts are required.
About Corvallis Multicultural Literacy Center (CMLC)
CMLC is a community-based learning center that promotes mutual understanding between cultures, provides citizenship, educational and cultural resources and is a welcoming space that fosters relationship building and connections throughout the community.
The Communication and Web Developer position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic, multicultural environment with close ties to the Corvallis community. CMLC offers many ongoing programs and resources including, but not limited to, language exchange and tutoring, conversation partners and conversation circles for English practice, immigration legal clinic, international cooking classes, monthly international potlucks, monthly scholars coffees, citizenship tutoring, language resource library, cultural workshops, and art exhibits. In addition, other community groups and organizations, in alignment with the CMLC mission, use the center for events and activities.
Position Summary
The Communication and Web Developer drafts, publishes, and designs all CMLC media and public relations including: newsletters, website, Facebook, Instagram, and printed and digital fliers. Self-motivated to generate content related to CMLC values, goals, mission, and the broader community. The Communication and Web Developer collaborates with community partners to promote events put on by partner organizations. The position also requires responsibilities including, but not limited to, answering phone calls, responding to emails, overseeing volunteers, and other tasks as needed. The ideal candidate for this position has experience or interest in working with people from multiple backgrounds and cross-cultural issues in a multicultural environment, has experience in nonprofit work, can keep a flexible schedule, has exceptional organizational skills, communicates clearly, and is willing to multitask.
Position Responsibilities:
- Create content for CMLC website, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
- Knowledge of WordPress to manage and maintain CMLC website
- Search and follow CMLC activities related campaigns for greater reach to the community
- Prepare annual report via Adobe Illustrator, InDesign or Canva
- Prepare donations report via Network for Good
- Manage CMLC e-newsletter and other volunteer/member connections
- Supervise Outreach and Community Engagement Coordinator, volunteers, and student interns
- Answer/direct phone calls, check voicemail
- Reply to email, telephone or face to face inquiries
- Carry out administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying,
binding, scanning etc.
- Develop and maintain a digital filing system
- Develop and update administrative systems to make them more efficient
- Receive, sort and distribute the mail
- Coordinate repairs to office equipment
- Handle multiple simultaneous projects
Required skills and experience:
- Proficiency with required publishing tools, including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Premiere Pro
- Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Organizational and planning skills
- Experience supervising other positions
- Able to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers
- Able to multitask and prioritize work
- Web and Digital Design
- Commitment to institutionalizing DEI practices
Additional preferred skills:
- Multilingual
- Experience with multiple forms of social media
- Understanding of marketing strategies
- Previous non-profit experience
