DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Special Events Supervisor, support the special events coordination in the Parks and Recreation Department, Special Events Division; assist with temporary business licenses for event vendors; post to social media to promote events; document event details; arrange and coordinate the registrations; assist with logistics of events.

Qualifications
Applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications to continue in the recruitment process:
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent; some college preferred; experience with events is preferred
Licenses and Certificates:
Must possess within thirty (30) days of hire and maintain throughout employment, the equivalent to a valid Nevada Class C driver’s license.
Examples of Essential Duties
Register participants and vendors for special events; receive registrations in different formats including online submission processes and keep and maintain accurate registration records.
Promote special events through social media and assist with logistics of special events. Set up and store equipment for events including movie projector(s) and screen(s) or other event equipment as assigned. Lock and secure equipment between uses.
Communicate with the public, registrants, and special event vendors in person, by phone and electronically in a professional and courteous manner and offer excellent customer service.
Process applications for temporary business licenses for vendors of special events and maintain accurate files on vendor permits. Check for vendor permits and business licenses at special events and write reports on possible violations.
Must demonstrate and have the ability to: communicate with the public, program participants and vendors effectively and professionally; provide superior customer service; navigate websites and develop online forms; pay attention to detail and follow through a project to completion; post social media advertisements; maintain accurate files and records; use software such as an online registration submission system; work any day of the week including weekends; attend key events in person; respond to requests and inquiries from vendor representatives, special event participants and citizens; understand and follow oral and written instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work and make sound decisions, work independently and work in a stressful environment at times
Perform other duties which may be assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Some knowledge of Marketing, Public Relations, Social Media strategy
- Principles of organizing and prioritizing tasks and maintaining accurate documentation
- Standard office practices and procedures and standard office equipment
- Computer software and application
- Some knowledge of logistics of special events
Physical Demands:
Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time; requires ability to lift equipment and materials weighing up to 40 pounds; requires ability to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment.
