The Role in Brief:
Community + Youth Camp Intern
This pivotal role at Midlakes United drives our community engagement strategy, fostering positive impact within our region. You’ll lead efforts to support local non-profits, coordinate player and staff events, and actively contribute to our youth camps. To excel, you’ll need exceptional organizational skills, a knack for networking on behalf of the club, and a genuine enjoyment of working with children. This internship demands a higher time commitment, particularly during camp sessions, and a solid soccer background is a plus. Hours will fluctuate throughout the summer, with peak activity centered around gamedays.
Primary Responsibilities:
Business Management:
· Contact and foster relationships with local non-profits.
· Feature as a “point person” for all things community engagement related.
· Community Engagement Coordinator: Responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance Midlakes United’s presence and impact within the community. This role involves organizing events, collaborating with local non-profits, and managing relationships with community stakeholders.
· Event Coordinator: Tasked with planning and executing player and staff events, as well as coordinating logistics for youth camps. This role requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure successful and memorable experiences for participants.
· Outreach Specialist: Focused on building and maintaining relationships with key community partners, sponsors, and stakeholders. This role involves networking, making connections for the club, and promoting Midlakes United’s initiatives and programs.
· Youth Programs Manager: Oversees the planning and execution of youth camps and other initiatives aimed at engaging young soccer enthusiasts. This role involves working closely with coaches, instructors, and volunteers to deliver high-quality programming that aligns with the club’s mission and values.
· Operations Coordinator: Supports the day-to-day operations of Midlakes United, including scheduling, logistics, and administrative tasks related to community events, player engagements, and youth programs. This role ensures smooth coordination and execution of various activities and initiatives.
Basic Qualifications:
· A passion for sports, community, and children
· Strong academic record
· Comfort with a startup environment
· Reliable transportation for events
· Excellent communications skills
· Must possess at least two of the following:
· Experience working with children
· Experience leading or taking initiative
· Customer service experience
· Experience working in a team environment
Ideal Qualifications:
· Ability to communicate effectively by phone and email with external and internal team members
· Demonstrates poise, maturity, and resilience with internal and external audiences
· Attention to detail and ability to empathize with the children
· Proven experience managing multiple, competing priorities; demonstrated ability to accomplish tasks and activities efficiently and according to importance
· Ability to take initiative on projects and see them through to completion

· The hired candidate will work May 1 – Aug 6th, 2024, for the Club with an estimate of 15-20 hours of work per week, though this range may change as the season goes on
· Attendance for home games at Bellevue College is mandatory to qualify for the role. Home game dates are May 3, May 11, May 28, May 31, June 2, June 14, June 23, June 21, June 25, June 28, and July 14 (with the possibility for additional matches during playoffs on the weekends of July 21, July 28, and August 3).
