The Novelis Advanced Product and Processes team in the New Domains is seeking an Advanced Product and Processes Solutions (APPS) Learning Co-Op. The person in this role will report to the Process Engineers. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing computational / imaging tools to evaluate microstructure of sustainable aluminum alloys with the aim to build institutional knowledge and to enhance current capabilities. This role is designed to build on the foundation of great team collaboration and strong project management.
Responsibilities:
- Development of image processing for particles identification a quantification.
- Development of Monte-Carlo simulation for different alloys and particles to enhance existing imaging practices.
- Collaboration and communication of results with cross-functional teams.
- Document results of imaging, simulations and developments in technical reports and presentations to stakeholders.
- Demonstrate personal commitment to safety by following Novelis safety rules and equipment operating processes. Overall accountability for ensuring safety as the #1 priority.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3rd or 4th year student in Materials Science/Engineering/Physical Sciences or currently enrolled in a post graduate degree program
- Strong programming and computational skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suit (Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Image processing using ImageJ.
- Experience with SEM an Optical Microscopy.
- Experience with Monte-Carlo Simulations
- Metallurgical knowledge pertaining material properties including corrosion, formability, heat treatments and mechanical response.
- Capability to thrive in team environment, communicate well, and to engage and influence cross-functional teams within the R&D organization.
- Excellent problem solving, communication and presentation skills.
