The Golf Club at Newcastle has an exciting opportunity for a talented Catering Sales Intern to join our team this summer. In this position, you will assist the Catering Sales team in a variety of areas, including administrative tasks. Your commitment to a high level of customer service when interacting with new and existing clients will make you successful in this position.
The Catering Sales Intern reports to the Catering Sales Director. This internship provides opportunities to work directly with prospective as well as existing clients and business leaders, to develop mentoring relationships with experienced Catering Sales professionals, and gain valuable hands-on experience.
Internship Duration: May through August 2024
Location: The Golf Club at Newcastle, 15500 Six Penny Lane, Newcastle, WA 98059
Compensation: $20.00 per hour for the duration of the internship
Hours: 25-30 hours per week to start, with opportunity to increase to 40 hours per week based on workload.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the Catering Sales Department during our busy summer season.
- Represent, contribute to, and promote Oki Golf as a market leader.
- Ensure excellence for every guest/team member experience.
- Understand Oki Golf’s definition of guest service and embody the service philosophy.
- Follow business plans & initiatives and help achieve sales objectives, expectations, and targets.
- Professional representation of the property and amenities in relation to all communications.
- Provide regular, timely and informative communications to team members.
- Establish and embody the benchmark of performance to the department in the areas of motivation, sense of ownership and dedication to quality of product.
- Maintain a positive disposition and high integrity when addressing guest(s) and team member(s) regarding any club or company related business.
- Return all inquiries and correspondence within 24 hours.
- Exhibit creativity and implement new ideas to achieve goals.
- Must uphold a professional appearance and demeanor and be dressed in uniform at the start of each shift.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Enrolled status at accredited college with a major in Hospitality or a related field, or any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training
- Possess superior verbal and written communication skills
- Professional in appearance, communication, and guest/team member interactions
- Ability to multi-task
- Resourceful and a self-starter
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher)
- Event systems experience a plus
- Committed to learning, personal growth, continual process improvement and team development

Seasonal team members are hired for the summer season, and work fluctuating amounts of hours per week, including occasional overtime. Hours are not guaranteed, and hours worked during the summer (busy season) are not an indication of hours available year-round.
Seasonal employment is temporary work; therefore, terminated at the end of the busy season. Team Members in good standing are encouraged to return the following year or apply for a year-round position if available.
